So Sweet Baby Shower

My friend Sage is having a baby girl in May. I'm a lucky duck, because I also get to work with her everyday. We share the same little office at the school where we work, so seeing her belly grow and talking about Mom stuff with her has been so much fun. So, when it came to throwing her a work shower, I was very excited, because this is something that I LOVE to do. Throwing any kind of party is just plain FUN!

Our Inspiration was Cupcakes and Sweets and the colors Pink, Red and Aqua. My very good friend Jenny made these adorable "Cupcake" flower arrangements. I painted the terra-cotta pots (4", 6", 8") and Jenny mounded fluffy carnations to imitate "icing"! They look good enough to eat.

For starters, I went here to order this invition. I told Autumn what the theme and colors were, and she made the perfect invitation and matching stickers that I used on the favors.

When guests arrived, we had a table set up where each guest would fill out the envelope for the thank you card, and since the Mommy isn't a BIG fan of baby shower games, we had a diaper raffle that guests could participate in by bringing a package of diapers for the new baby. I also displayed the thank you gifts, which were Pink Lemonade Sugar Scrubs that I made at home from a few simple ingredients, like this one I made at Christmas time, and filled up inside fun jars from Cost Plus. This is also where the before mentioned stickers came in.

I stacked them up on cake plates just to keep with the Sweet Treat theme. (They happen to be pink glass too, wink wink)

We asked guests to put their gifts on the gift table. You will notice a little tree with money tied to it. Let me explain. We asked our co-workers to contribute to a pool of money that we could give Sage to order her stroller. We received very generous gifts and wanted to present this 'Money Tree' with a little card that had a picture of her stroller in it! Now Sage can go order her new stroller from everyone she works with!

Since our friend Sage is a Candy-ohlic, whats better than a good ol'fashined Candy Bar. We picked up all of her favorites. Good and Plenty, Sour Cherries, Tart 'Pappies', Peppermints and Jelly Belly's. Guests could take some home in goodie bags, or munch on them while they were there.

I made the DIY garland, that is hanging from the table, out of Cupcake Liners that I bought from this shop. The tutorial on making this garland can be found here. It's very easy and fun to make!
We also ordered Cupcakes as the desert. The local bakery made them with icing to match! They came in three flavors, Marble, Vanilla Sponge and my favorite was the Banana. Yummy!

Since the shower was at 11am, we decided to serve a brunch type menu. Also, it was a work shower and there were alot of ladies that wanted to help, so this is where their help came in. We asked several people to bring food like Quiche, Salads and Dips. When you give people parameters like a salad, but ask them to make their favorite, you end up getting some really tasty dishes!
And then two big pitchers of Raspberry Pink Lemonade and Lemon Water and your SET
Once the festivities were underway, we played one last game with everyone. It was a celebrity baby game like I've never seen before, and I wanted to make sure it was tuff enough that not everyone could win! It was a series of celebrity baby pictures, and believe me, some of them were hard to guess!

The game and the print out can be found here, and it was game #150, it was a hit and a lot of fun.

And one little detail that I wanted to put some thought into was the prize. There was a little Etsy shop that sold the most adorable necklaces with a 'Cupcake' Theme. Some of the necklaces said "Keep Calm and Eat a Cupcake" and others were just sweet cupcake images. The shop can be found here. I also added some cupcake soaps like these do the diaper raffle gift, just to plump it up a little bit!

The finishing touch to the decor was the adorable hand made banner that my sweet friend made. It was done in pretty coordinating fabrics, and you can see a better picuture here. I know my friend would make you one, just visit her facebook page in the link above and send her a message! Any fabrics, just give her colors!!!!

The Shower was huge success! I had so much fun helping pull it all together that I can't wait for the chance to do another!
